Viking ships prowled in the dark waters of the wild North Sea. Men rowing into distant horizons, their eyes fixed on the prize: glory and honor.

Vikings used Longships to take them to new destinations for raids.
The longship was the most advanced water vessel of that era, a double ended, long, narrow vessel that was fast and could handle deep seas as well as narrow rivers.
A longship could hold up to 120 men…villagers would have only about 60 minutes time to get ready for the Vikings raid, once they spotted the longship on the horizon.
Beautiful carved animal heads often featured at the front of longships.
These heads, usually the head of a snake or a dragon, was designed to provoke fear in the spirits of whichever land the Vikings were going to raid.
